3 PCBs for the ticker 16-8

The PCBs consists of two parts: the LED display and the 4094 and controller part.

3.1 LED display part

LED PCB This is the LED display part. It consists of the 128 LEDs and places those in a regular order. The PCB is 160-by-80 mm in size.

Of the 128 anodes 127 are placed on the two pin headers, of which the upper header connects the four upper LED rows, the lower the four lower LED rows. LED anodes 124 and 125 are, together with the two cathode GND pins, connected to an additional four-pin header.

The headers are to be soldered so that they point downwards, to be plugged into the respective female headers on the 4094/controller PCB.

By right-clicking onto the PCB picture you can get a gif with a five times higher resolution.

Component place, emt on the LED PCB This is the component placement of the LED PCB. The polarity of the LEDs changes between the rows. The numbers that are listed on the pin headers are the numbers of the LEDs, from right to left (consult the schematics).

3.2 Controller part

PCB for the controller part This here is the PCB for the controller part. It consists of: The single-sided PCB does not include the supply-pins, the connections between the 4094s and between the 4094s and the controllers. The ladder ones depend from the hardware version. Those missing connections have to be manually soldered with solderable enameled copper wire.

For the version
  1. tn24-1: all DATA inputs of the 4094s are to be connected with the previous QS output pins, the DATA input of the first 4094 is to be connected to the PA7 pin of the ATtiny24,
  2. tn24-2: the DATA input pins of the even-numbered 4094s are to be connected to the QS output pins of the previous 4094, the DATA input pins of the odd-numbered 4094 are to be connected to the PAn pins of the ATtiny24,
  3. m48: the DATA inputs of the 4094s are to be connected to the PBn and PDn port pins of the ATmega48, the QS outputs are left open,
  4. m324: the DATA input pins of all 4094s are to be connected with the PCn and PDn port pins of the ATmega324, the QS outputs are left open.
All control-input-pins EN, CLK and STB are connected with each other and are connected to the respective port pins, as shown in the schematics.

By right-clicking on the PCB graphic you'll get access to a five times higher resoluted gif.

Component placement on the controller PCB This is the component placement plan for the controller PCB. Of course, you only need to solder the components of your selected version. And only those are to be connected with copper wire.
